Guests have reported encountering a floating dark shadow passing through the rooms of the second floor of this modest hotel. Clouds of etheric vapor have appeared in the dining room, where candles have been known to relight themselves. The ghost of a woman named Mary Phelps, who lost her baby son in a room fire in 1884, has appeared to several witnesses. Another ghost named George keeps returning to his old room at the hotel. Owners Millie and William Jones have also experienced the entities. The town of Ione is southwest of Sacramento, near Jackson in Amador County.

Ione Hotel – Ione, CA
Colonial Inn – Concord, MA
A grayish figure haunts Room 24 on the second floor. The ghost is thought to be a guest who stayed at the inn in the late 1800s. The haunted room is in the oldest section of the inn. Built in 1716 by physician Captain Joseph Minot, the house later became part of an inn that enveloped two other houses. A conventional brick building was added to the rear of the inn in the 1960s. The first sighting of the ghost was on June 14, 1966, when a woman on her honeymoon at the inn was awakened by a shadowy figure four feet from the edge of her bed. The apparation floated to the foot of the bed and vanished. Concord is 18 miles northwest of Boston, north of Highway 2 on Highway 126.

17-Hundred-90 Inn – Savannah, GA
The 17-Hundred-90 Inn is said to be haunted by an early 19th century ghost named Anna Powers or Powell. The legend says that she fell in love with a German sailor who didn’t feel the same and she committed suicide by leaping to her death from the 3rd floor balcony of the hotel.
Stories say she likes to hang around room 204 and wanders through the hallways and the restaurant of the inn.
This quaint old hotel is located in the Historic Distric of Savannah, near the corner of Lincoln Street and Bay Street.

Golden North Hotel – Skagway, AK
The Golden North Hotel was built in 1898 and is the oldest operating hotel in Alaska. It was originally built as a two story hotel, but was relocated and expanded in 1908. A third story and the world famous golden dome was also added during this expansion.
This old hotel is haunted by two ghosts, one of whom has been named Mary. Mary is believed to be the spirit of a young woman who died of pnuemonia while waiting for her fiance to return from prospecting gold. She haunts room 23 and guests who have stayed in that room report seeing a woman and experiencing a choking sensation in the middle of the night. The second ghost is a bizarre light form that moves around room 14 at night. No one is quite sure what or who it might be.
